WOOAAAH. YEAAAAA. SURE
DO YOU SEE THOSE SPEAKERS???
THAT GIRL IS A FUNKTION ONE.
this is my new obsession thanks to ashland. i feel. like i can't go back, i can never have another sound experience. i've been turned permanently. OUT.
(clipboard means i'm WORKING ;)
so yea we did our first new tuesday party CHAMBERS with kim ahn and aaron castle! ...it was cuuute. it will keep going i think! first tuesdays. next month (APRIL 5) we moving to the waaaay back of the crocker club- to a room called THE GHOST BAR. it's called the ghost bar cause it's smaller and enclosed and there's ghosts that live in there (i hope!)
crocker is a funny location for sure. it's a little bit like this:
HA HA HA i know but it's totally also like this:
i'm starting a new project at the new museum (can i talk about this yet??) S/F 2011. i've been thinking a lot lately - especially working w ashland - and about how important it is to me to always try to find ways to bring different people together in a way that we can all SEE EACH OTHER and feel good (beyond what we normally assume is possible in terms of our class differences), no matter what our power background is. so like, that involves EVERYTHING about social gathering - from the way you are invited, to the way you walk in the door - everything about sound and light EVEN matters. it's funny- when we got to the crocker club, the first thing we did was unplug the douchey glowing flower vases and tape cocktail napkins over all the light fixtures. in one way, it's a totally whatever JOB, but in another way it's a kind of community care. it's about dealing with bullshit fanciness and at the same time wanting fanciness to be something for everyone... or at least for now, it feels good to be doing again ;)
